This remains one of my all-time favorite songs. It’s so beautifully strange. I’ll never forget seeing Ani play with my best friends in highschool as the sun set over the Manhatten skyline in our various states of punk-rock-post-folk-rummage-sale array, dancing and singing along. I don’t even think she played this song, but still. Sunset. Manhatten. Friends. Any Ani song takes me right there :)

This was one of the first albums I felt truly cool owning, and I can’t listen to it without immediately feeling the heft of books to reshelve as I lisented on headphones at work and smelling oil paint from my studio as I painted endless self-involved self-portraits on plywood primed that awful salmon color.
